Minerva Neon
Pop Revival
Pop Revival is a competition promoted by Minerva Neon to explore shapes, colors and technologies that evoke the energy and optimism of pop culture and neon.
Times Square, Las Vegas, the Chicago Theater.
The uniqueness of some of the most recognized places in the collective imagination is due to the use of an early twentieth-century technique that was used repeatedly throughout the century and then became a vibrant icon of the magnificent 1980s: neon signs.
As colorful and disruptive as the cultural context that fostered their rise, neon lights play a crucial role in pop culture.
From the poetical geometries of Dan Flavin, to the provocations of Maurizio Cattelan, passing through the spatial inventions of Lucio Fontana; there have been numerous artisanal and industrial expressions connected to this iconic technology. One of the most prominent historical companies in this field is undoubtedly Minerva Neon.
Minerva Neon was founded in the Fifties during the second boom of neon signs. It witnessed and took part in the milestones of the history of light communication and pop
culture.
Therefore, it is no coincidence that in celebrating the creation of its first furniture line, Minerva Neon takes inspiration from its own history of light and color to design the future shapes of its collections.
Re-awaken the emotions of neon signs through a furniture collection that can sparkle the future time.
This is the challenge of “Pop Revival”, Minerva Neon’s competition to explore shapes, colors and technologies that evoke the energy and optimism of pop culture and neon. The competition aims at creating furniture pieces that can arouse unique emotions and tell vibrant stories, between nostalgia and modernity.
